They should lean into the vibe of Donkey Kong Country 2 and do another moody / spooky DKC where you're in enemy territory.

I didn't mind Returns or Tropical Freeze but the vibe of the first three was completely lost. I honestly think they should use the same graphic rendering techniques as they did in DKC, DK2, and DK3. And make the music using the same style, emulate that SNES sound again. DKC: R and DKC: TF felt like generic cartoon characters. The pixilation is part of the charm and atmosphere. Even DKC3 started to get a bit too cartoony with the art design. Compare the Kremlins in 1 + 2 vs the Kremlins in 3. Maybe it was a palette cleanse after how dark DKC2 was?

I standby my opinion that Tropical Freeze is the best 2d platformer ever made.

Also, retro is working on Metroid Prime 4 at the moment. After that, I hope they do another Donkey Kong Country

makes sense, the only company they have that can make a good donkey kong is retro and retro is focused on metroid prime 4....which was scrapped, what, twice now?
