Need serious advice about money/job. Will Paypal $10 to best/serious answers(srs)
Hi,
I'm 33. 1 year IT experience. 1 year construction helper experience. Live with parents. Time to move out.
My budget = ~$3,300 a month expenses.
(Am I missing anything?)
Health Insurance = $300 (OPTION A)
Rent = $1,200
Car Fuel = $300
Food = $250
Cell = $50
Internet = $50
Gym = $50
Cigs = $250
Car pay = $300
Utilities = $200
Random Subs = $100
Hygine = $100
Car ins = $150
Misc = $300
Options:
Option A = Information Technology as a Desktop Support Technician.Salary = $3,200 after taxes a month.Problem: Obviously will barely make ends meet. Will need to get a job on the weekends. Problem2: I really want to do this.
Option B = Construction. As a helper in framing or renovation. Salary = $5,000 after taxes amonth. Problem: I don't want to do this, because I am out of shape - but when I did do it and was in shape it was tolerable. Problem2: Will constantly think I want to do Information Technology. Problem 3: 10 hours a day vs. 8 in IT(but weekend job so roughly the same)
Option C = Currently trying to get citizenship in US. IF I do get it(will know in 10 months) I can take my disability(mental health problem) and move to Poland, and get a job there in customer service. Salary+Disability = $7,000 zlotych(Polish currency) a month after taxes.Rent there is like $800 a month. Problem = I wouldn't have a car, but I'd obviously have a lot more money.
Pros Option A = Want to do it, career, growth/earning potential
Cons Option A = Little money to start
Pros Option B = Exercise, more money, polish people
Cons Option B = No room for growth, don't want to do this, work in all types of weather
Pros Option C = Lots of money, be near family, get to work any job I want
Cons Option C = Deadbeat?(Taking disability from US and living in Poland), no car, have to adjust to culture, have to re-learn how to write/read Polish, not in IT
What do?

Do what you like most and have the most interest in. It makes the job more tolerable and chances to climb the ladder are higher since you'll have more interest to learn the trade more.
It was easy for me to climb the ranks in the Vietnamese military because I already had a lot of prior interest before joining. That's not an easy feat to do even if im Vietnamese because I grew up in the states. But like I said, interest makes learning easier.

If you're genuinely interested in IT take that job and lower your expenses.
The fact that you enjoy it will put you leagues ahead of your coworkers who are only there for a paycheck and you'll be more skilled = faster promotions/more money later on.
Have you considered combining your IT and construction experience somehow? I.E. building server farms or modernizing office building networks or something. Usually combining 2 skills results in higher salary than only using 1.
