Anyone else live in a large or mid sized city where they keep trying

To put business's in the downtown area and they can never stay open?

You would think the people making these investments would look to the past and see what works and what doesn't.

Downtown here no one wants to go to. Is it the same in your town/city?

A lot of those businesses are passion projects and people with too much money staying busy.

It's like this in a lot of cities. Unless they start outlawing vagrancy and open air drug use and forcing mandatory rehabilitation you will see a rotted downtown core in every city.

And it's always big bars or nightclubs more times than not. On one side of the coin money is put into telling people not to drink and drive and then they open up these huge bars and nightclubs in the heart of downtown for people to drink then drive back to the burbs.

Makes a lot of sense.

Businesses can also be very lucrative. The difference between failing and being fabulously profitable for a downtown business can come down to a handful of circumstances. There are always businesses willing to risk it.

usually trash restaurants that try to look chic and ends up being just try hard overpriced **** slop.

Who wants to take a date or even go out with a couple of friends for a couple brews and watch a game when you either have to pay for parking and on top of that worry about your car getting broken into, hub caps stolen, getting mugged and then have a long ride home.

Unless it's a sporting event of some kind I can't imagine anyone wanting to spend town in any downtown area.

Not enough to support these large business they keep opening. Hence why they keep rotating out every couple years one closes one opens closes and opens. Andnits always a bar/club.

Clearly not the business model but the location
