ITT: What is your #1 go to protein staple while cutting? (protein-cels GTFIH)

For myself personally, it's always been chicken breast. I'll sometimes throw in pork loin, ground turkey/chicken, white fish, tuna, or other really lean meats if there's a nice sale going. Basically, I'm trying to get a good protein to weight ratio going. As a staple you're able to use to make many distinct dishes, I find chicken breast unbeatable in that domain. However, I'm always looking to try different things and step out of my comfort zone, so I'm curious to hear about what kind of protein people here rely on while cutting.

Just trying to get myself mentally ready for my yearly cut that's set to begin in T-minus 5-6 weeks, which is pretty mind-blowing to me. Feels like just yesterday that I was wrapping up last year's cut. Time flies.

For your time.......

Lean ham and various shellfish. Mussels, oysters, crab and prawns and such. Lobster if I'm feeling fancy but the price doesn't really seem worth it to me as I prefer crab and its cheaper, normally Lobster is for if somebody is around and I want to look posh.

Sounds kinda gross. I don't think I've ever had canned chicken. Besides tuna, as a basic rule of thumb, I try to not eat processed food.

I actually go the other way and eat chicken thighs and salmon when cutting because usually low on fats and feeling like chit if I try to go all lean protein.

Any white fish with some sort of home made salsa is a good cutting meal also.

Chicken breast ground beef eggs and greek yogurt, string cheese as snack.

Those are also my staples when not cutting too though lol.

If i actually knew how to make it taste not like ass i would add in tilapia fillets.

There is one go-to cutting meal I really like lately (although it sort of looks like dog food, but who cares?). I buy the 1 lb. packs of ground bison at the store. I throw a bit of minced garlic into a pan with a little olive oil, chop up some onion and peppers (usually some bell, poblano, Fresno, and jalapeno) and add that blend in, then I add the ground bison once the garlic and peppers have had a little time to soften. The spices I add are some salt, pepper, chili powder, and turmeric. Toward the end I add a half cup of shredded cheddar to let that melt and be mixed in with the heat off. I finish it off with drizzling sriracha over the whole thing.

Depending on my remaining calories for the day, I'll either eat half the pan or the entire thing. Half the pan is around 400ish calories and 40-something grams of protein. The whole 1lb of meat with everything else comes out more like 800 calories and 100 grams of protein.

Other than that, chicken (usually drums or thighs for me) or steak with some veggie sides like green beans, Brussels sprouts, snap peas, mushrooms, etc.

I eat chicken at least 4 days a week even when not cutting. I'm in maintenance mode most of the time. I use boneless skinless chicken thighs and will also try to throw salmon in one day a week. Weekends it's usually some type of beef, pork or some fancy chicken dish.

Chicken breast and not even close.

Between ages of 18 and 29(when I moved in my with now wife) I ate chicken breast for 1-2 meals ~300 days a year.

Doing my first "real" cut in 7 years. Have eaten Chicken breast everyday for 2 straight weeks. It's never bothered me to eat same thing everyday.

Thanks for sharing, everyone. Like many of you, even when I'm not cutting, I always build meals around the main protein source. I might eat a bit less chicken breast as a result. I love salmon and fattier cuts of meat but I find that they're more challenging to fit in my macros. You can find good caloric estimates online but I always found it more certain to just go with chicken breast and get my fats from a handful of nuts or an egg or something.

Looking forward to this one, in a way. I know it'll be really challenging this time around but I'm ready for a few months of discomfort. I personally really believe that it's integral to our overall well-being to actively build a tolerance to discomfort.

Same. I eat almost the same thing 5 days a week and it doesn't bother me at all. It does help that I change it up on weekends. When I'm in srs cutting mode and eat the same thing on weekends too that does get old for me.

I agree with this. I like testing my willpower.

Nothing wrong with that. Nice clean protonz. How much is boneless/skinless chicken breast in Denmark? On sale here, best we can do now is 4.99 a pound. It used to be 3.99 a pound on sale but that's not happening anymore.
