Any Odessa/Midland or DFW Miscers here? Srs thread
Unfortunately I don't think Las Vegas is going to work out. Housing here is just brutal, and the crime and riff raff even in Henderson is pretty bad. Car insurance is crazy expensive, and most of the locals are miserable lol. My job that I moved out here pays $40hr, but honestly I was happier in Wyoming making $33hr.
Right now, there are heavy equipment dealers and field service companies in Odessa and the DFW area looking for technicians, and are paying very well. I don't do drugs and I rarely drink, so I'm sure lead techs and field managers would view me as a god send lol. My questions are more so focused on quality of life, and cost of living. Housing seems to be fantastic in Odessa, but coming from Wyoming, I know a boom and bust town when I see it. I'd probably wait a year or two before I bought a house there. I'm also concerned about crime, it seems to be at above the national average there. Then again it might not be so bad considering it's an oil town, and expected to be higher lol.
The DFW area has a lot of potential, but it seems to be incredibly saturated, and a dealer I'm going to have a phone interview with tomorrow is right smack in the middle. I might be jumping out of the pan and into the fire with all of my city complaints. Plus I remember seeing threads Miscers would make about downtown areas and the videos that would ensue from it.
My bias is to Odessa right now, but hopefully some of you folks have some input. Also I own a truck, plenty of guns and will most likely vote Trump. I'll probably make some anchor babies though, ngl.
INB4 "we're full".

I'd rather stick to the southern half of the country, and personally west Texas doesn't seem to get anywhere near as hot as Vegas or Arizona. All I read was “heavy equipment dealer”, there’s no better place to be than west Texas for that.
I worked in west Texas for years in the oilfield.
