Literally the only thing you can do is give it time and take a break. Avoid anything that causes discomfort or pain. That’s all you can do.

if you get moving, like doing light yard work and walking does it get better?

every time I hurt my back, the best thing to do is to relax for 2-3 days, then after that I have to get up and do something, the less time I spend sleeping or sitting, the better

if I just rest it never recovers

gotta go to gym and squat 135 or do a few hours of light manual labor

walking too

mainly just keep it warm and moving

You should really go to a doctor before you try to rehab it yourself. A lot of back pain can indeed be fixed through strengthening, but you need to know what you are dealing with first.

A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

1. Stop lifting.
2. Use hot water bottles & ice packs to see which one works best.
3. Sit up straight, don't slouch.
4. Lay down as much as possible & rest.

unless you able to put yourself into a stupor on a cocktail of opiates, nothing will aliviate the pain. The only thing you can do is stretch. It will turn the pain from unbearable to simply a nagging/achy pain. Frequently stretching also hastens the healing process.

As much as it feels like you want to just lay down and do nothing, just laying there will make you stiff. which makes the back pain worse. You've just gotta keep stretching.
