Did Sean Strickland get Screwed?

I had Sean winning three out of the 5 rounds. 1,2 and 5.

I also wonder if Sean wasn't so vocal about certain topics would the outcome still been the same?

Either way, I still appreciate his efforts.

It was a really close fight either way. Strickland definitely didn't get jobbed.

An extremely close fight should go to the champ.. belts shouldn't change hands on fights that could've easily been a draw. so yes, I would say robbed.

Extremely close fight. By the new rule set, Damage>Everything. While Strickland did land more volume, DDP landed the harder shots. Doesn't help that DDP was the one pushing forward while Strickland backed away. Could've gone either way, the winner isn't clear. If there was ever a fight that deserved an immediate rematch it's this one.

I really dont like DDP. Find him very cringey, and i love Strickland, but that was a razor thin fight and could have gone either way.

I have no problem when the decision.

There are far bigger robberies in UFC history.

Very fair point. I totally agree with this as well.


Also the scoring needs to be changed as well. Takedowns shouldnt be worth jack chit if nothing was done with it.

Strickland didn’t compete like someone deserving to hold the belt and was running scared by the 4th round

Don’t get me wrong, I would have preferred he won but that just wasn’t the case. If you think it was a tie you don’t know what you’re talking about

With all the haymakers DDD kept on telegraphing, why didn’t Strickland just stand and bang with him instead of fighting on the back foot the entire fight when Strickland is the better boxer?

Looking at the fight stats, round 2 could have easily gone to dricus

1 and 5 were Strickland. 3 and 4 were pretty even in strikes landed but dricus took them with his takedowns. I just saw that he outlanded Strickland in round 2. It was a really uneventful round so I guess I asumed Sean was outboxing him like in round 1

thought there was only 3 clear rounds
1 - Sean
4 - DDP
5 - Sean

2 and 3 really could of gone either way, so wouldn't say it was a robbery

Aside from the first round, Strickland seemed like he was playing defense the whole time. I'm aware he had a chit ton of jabs, and they did some damage, but it just seemed like he wasn't fighting for the win, outside of the first round.

In any normal fight, I think the masses would give it to DDP. Being a championship, I get it's hard to see Strickland losing it in such a close match. If the fight continued through, I think DDP would take it, Stickland looked gassed way more than DDP at the end, and I think the rounds are arguable. It kinda sucks, but I think the right person won.
