While Sony's 2024 is very front loaded with some solid looking titles that are third party/2nd party deals. We have absolutely no clue on what they have planned for the usual 2nd,3rd,4th quarter of 2024 other than some gaasy games that I dare say most of the sony fanbase don't care about.

Would it be safe to assume that 2026 is when Sony first party studios finally get done cooking and we have some solid release titles for it?

I'm talking about studios like Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, SSM, Guerrila etc.




I think the only game we might see in 2025 coming in realistically would be a Ghost of Sushima sequel and the leaked Venom game... But for naughty dog it's definitely gonna be in 2026 given the recent trouble with factions. I honestly dont think we have any heavy hitters due in for 2025 either, and I'll be legit surprised if there's 2 huge single player exclusives in 2025 from the bigger studios.



Even Wolverine is a 2026 game which is surprising given what we saw from the leaks, it looks amazing and seems to be pretty far ahead based on the gameplay snippets, so it coming in 2026 is definitely a bit of a surprise.

I also feel like some of the other first party studios that are known for singleplayer that may have been working on gaas games may have quietly canned them in order to pivot back to what made people fall in love with sony in the first place.

Probably fairly accurate assumptions. I think whatever Showcase Sony does the beginning of this year will be pretty telling, like do we see anything from those heavy hitters studios early this year? I could see 2025 releases if so, but 2026 if not.

Man do we even see an early showcase for Sony at this point? at most we'd prolly have a 'showcase" during summergamesfest/formerly E3 time.

Jims tenure has Sony focusing on gaas and playing things super close to the chest and only announcing stuff that has a definitive release date. Jimbo should be out by march/april, so perhaps we could hope that the next ceo takes things differently and gives us a bit a of hype and doing some announcements/trailers for 2025/2026 .... If I was CEO that's what I'd do given the reception from fans online lol, but that's why i'm not a sony ceo.

We're at the middle of the gen and should be firing on all cylinders yet it's mostly crickets besides Spiderman, remasters and roguelikes...all due to laziness and the awful deep dive into GAAS.

Yeah I agree and the problem is we have no alternatives unless we want to spend all evening compiling shaders, monitoring CPU temps and fiddling with Steam OS to get our controller to work. We have no alternatives and Sony knows it which is why they're teabagging us rn.

I like Spiderman but it's not something that got me big hyped like FW or Ragnarok. Burning shores was good but didn't meet my expectations set by Frozen Wilds.They are also all continuing installments in an existing franchise... I was really hoping to see some announcements of new IPs by now that would rival what TLOU/bloodborne etc did back in the day.

What I noticed about Sony peeps here is that they fanboy a lot, many are critical of PS too. Mgftp saying PS5 is ugly, Coal vocal in PS games he dislikes. You hardly hear that on Xbox peeps, it’s just unending insults on PS, saying similar things over and over.

Not really recent tbh .... I've noticed generally most sonycels tend to callout sony when they do some dumbchit ... Whereas boxcels just blindly defend the platform regardless. Like you said, task,jay,subgamer have never once said anything negative about xbox and defend it to the death. Fair fair, personally I was excited for spiderman 2 , but not at god of war level hype. However I ended up loving spiderman 2 more than I expected. I'd go as far as to say it's probably the best exclusive they've released so far this gen in terms of pure entertainment/gameplay.

Yeah, i'm waiting for new ips and actual current generation games to be announced. We just got through the covid cross-gen shenanigans and then ran straight into their gaas push, which is probably being quietly killed off ... It's probably gonna be a wait before we see anything.
