I feed my kitty premium kibbles for the convenience, but then balance it out with premium soft/wet food at night or couple times during the week.




I'd go raw, but it's a bit expensive and time-consuming.

Been feeding my animals high quality dry food almost exclusively since forever. The cats always make it to 14+ years old, and the dogs live somewhere around life expenctancy for the breed. I've seen no reason to cave to the try-hards over pet food. There's a happy medium to be had with it.

I was always under the impression that dog's were a bit more sensitive when it comes to food?

I watch videos online where people feed their dogs raw food and the coats always seem so much shinier and nice lol. Have you noticed any difference in yours? But good to know that dogs are also fine with premium kibbles ... If and when I ever get a dog, I'd probably feed premium dry food as well.

Raw foods can be fine for them, even healthy, as you noted. It's just a pita, and can be spendy. I feed raw/wet foods as a supplemental treat food once in awhile. It's not timed at all, I just give them some whenever I feel like it.

The most important thing when feeding dry kibble is to make sure it's a grain-free brand. Personally, I've been feeding mine Taste Of The Wild forever, and had very good luck with that. It's on the spendier side for a dry kibble, but it yields good results without the pita of feeding raw food all the time. Other grain-free brands can be fine too, just find one you like and roll with it.

Seriously, it's grain used as filler that is the biggest issue in those dry foods. The bad results you're seeing are almost exclusively from people that feed their pets brands like Ol' Roy.

I volunteered at a shelter and fostered dogs for years and used to feed one of my huskies a raw diet. It was pretty nasty. Just rolls of meat schit. Now I just feed my animals kibble. My dog has specific allergies so she's on a disgustingly expensive specialty kibble.
