Former President Donald Trump must pay writer E. Jean Carroll over $83 million in damages for repeatedly defaming her, a jury found Friday.

The nine-person jury began deliberations in federal court in New York at 1:40 p.m. ET and reached a verdict in just under three hours.

The award included $11 million for damage to Carroll's reputation, $7.3 million for emotional harm and other damages, and $65 million in punitive damages.

The decision came after contentious closing arguments that saw Trump storm out of the courtroom. He returned for his own attorney's closing arguments but left the courthouse at 4 p.m., before the jury returned its verdict.

Trump had already been found liable for defaming Carroll while he was president by mocking her allegation that he'd sexually abused her, so this jury was only tasked with determining how much she should be paid in damages.

Carroll's lawyer Roberta Kaplan asked the jury for at least $24 million in compensatory damages for the harm she suffered and “lots and lots of money” in punitive damages to stop him from continuing to defame her.

Trump's attorney Alina Habba contended that Carroll “had failed to show she is entitled to any damages at all” because she "actively sought the comments and the attention" she received.

The trial started on Jan. 16, and Trump was the final witness in the case. He testified for under five minutes.

The verdict is the second for Carroll against Trump. A different jury last year found Trump liable for sexually abusing her in a New York City department store in the 1990s and for defaming her by mocking her claims after he left the White House. They awarded her $5 million in damages, a judgment Trump is appealing.

U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan found Trump liable for defamation in the current case based on that jury's findings. That finding barred Trump from testifying that Carroll's claim was made up, but Trump still managed to do so in his short testimony. "I consider it a false accusation," he said.

Pretty sure the court took stuff like evidence into consideration. I’m just guessing though because I don’t follow these suits at all. Maybe he got convicted on just word of mouth like Danny Masterson.

This is a civil case, so it has a lower bar than a criminal case. She will never see a cent though.

I've been anti-Trump this election cycle, but it makes me want to vote for him after seeing this.

Now, every female is watching this and thinking "if it's so easy to get 100 mil then where's my bag". Prepapre for a new wave of false accusations. The whole society will soon be filled with nothing but lying degenerates trying to steal money from each other and abusing the court system, if things weren't bad enough already.

I just hope that Trump doesn't pay a cent to her, and this sort of degeneracy will never be rewarded. Fuk that entire sh*thole state of New York, everyone on the jury voted for Hillary and this is their payback moment. Scumbags turned the entire judicial system into a clown show.

All this tells me is it sets a terrible presedent for citizens in the future who don't play nice with the powers that be. What's to stop someone in power from raising the statute of limitations anywhere in order to go after a dissenting voice not inline with the current agenda? Clown show and slippery slope all in one.

Where he farked up was talking about her. The thing that gets Trump is he speaks too freely and doesn't know when to STFU.

Really dark times that someone can just say you did something and that alone being proof. Fukd up now that any woman can basically come and accuse you of something and ruin your life. Even questioning it or denial is attacking the victim. If she gets caught lying very little penalties. There was innocent until proven guilty but it's bypassed here, and in civil court it doesn't exist.
