Rejected for job. Was this email okay?

Got notice I was denied for a job I applied for. It is what it is and I wrote this response email:

“Hello,

Thank you for notifying me of your decision. I understand the hiring process can be difficult and you are looking for the right fit. Wishing you and the team all the best. I will leave you with my favorite quote: “it was the best of times, it was worst of times.”

Best,

TheScape

Was that okay or too much?

Doesn’t matter. They won’t read it.

They only had to “consider” you to check legal blocks.

You were more of a chore to them than an opportunity to work for them and make them money.

You have already wasted way more of their time than what they want to give you.

They ain’t reading chit.

That response is way too long-winded.

The only time a response to a rejection email is required is if it's for a C-Level or VP or Director position. Any other position you just ignore and move on.

If you feel you must respond then it's best to keep it as short and cordial as possible.

I wouldn't respond. Certainly wouldn't include a quote. Don't waste your time. They aren't expecting to hear from you. My HR auto-sends rejections.

Edit: Realized you already sent it. The quote was a bit much. The rest was fine.

I think you should just show up to work on Monday, dressed appropriately, and just sit down and begin work as if nothing is out of the ordinary.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

They won't even read it. They had already hired someone from within before you even interviewed. You were just interview fodder to them to make it look like they're giving people opportunities. Better luck next time ass boy.

Very classy. They probably won't read it, but that's irrelevant. Keep doing your thing.

Perfect quote OP. A Tale of Two Cities basically outlines the themes of duality and resurrection of the peasants (YOU) and the aristocracy (the company that denied you).

At best, they will click on your email and glance at it for a split second and then move on to the 18,000 other things they have to do that day.

They won't read it. If they do, they won't give a chit unless you're asking for feedback. Even then, 90% won't care and will delete after reading. Unless you sent it to a hiring manager that is a white man, it's pointless to respond. Everyone else sucks the fattest of donkey diks.

I seriously left an e-mail back when rejected saying "I sincerely appreciate the update on your decision, and not leaving me informed." I heard from them 4 months later for the position cause the person quit.
