How Big of a Fraud is Tim Ferriss?

Supposedly got rich off some supplement company - then for years has been grifting off the productivity/self improvement space. Seems like he just sits around all day journaling and masturbating to the latest productivity tecnique/fad.

people eat it up.

thoughts?

I don't like the guy. Seems like another grifter, like the rest of them. I think he became a champion at some semi obscure sport by cutting a bunch of water weight then blowing back up for the fight.

'4 hour work week' was actually a pretty good book. I found it to be very practical, in the sense that you could actually go out and apply it immediately. He even had a section that included all of the online resources he used, in the back of the book.

I was into his stuff for maybe a month back in 2017, but after reading 4 hour workweek and listening to his Podcast a couple times, it became clear that he was of no benefit to me.

that's the one thing of his that may have introduced some new ideas / ways of thinking for me. the rest of it feels like grifting off junk science.

The first part of the plan (work remotely so you can manage your time as you see fit and live where you want) was legit. The second part (outsource everything to India) was completely bogus for most people. Every job I've had would fire me in a second if they caught wind that I was sending the tiniest bit of intellectual property overseas to be worked on by Vijay. Not to mention that when I have worked with outsourced overseas engineers, it took more time going back and forth with them to get it right than it would have taken me to just do it myself. Maybe if your entire job consisted of writing TPS reports or other drone work.

This.
Have outsourced graphic design to the Philippines and even started a subscription business with them, but it was hopeless in the end as you can't trust them to do the work, and if and when it was done, was often at a mediocre standard. They mainly use Canva which most clients could use at a pinch anyway.

4 hour work week my ass....

Never read any of his stuff, but I'd venture to guess he's just another clickbait generator?

I think MR MONEY MUSTACHE is the only authentic "money guru" online.... He doesn't even update his blog anymore because he has gobs of investments and just lives off that..... Most of these guys are desperately generating clicks, but MR MONEY MUSTACHE has an out-dated website, with incredible information on it, and he barely ever runs any type of ads.

Yeah, I want to say it was San Da - or something. Something like Chinese Kickboxing, but you can score a bunch of points pushing your opponent out of the ring...and that's how he won his fights...just having a big weight advantage and then shoving them out of the ring (when that's not the main goal of the sport and is just a cheap exploitation of a caveat).

i remember hearing he was some "push hands" or something champion after 6 months training...i had no idea it was in such a loser way. what a ridiculous thing to do. some rich silicon valley guy with questionable athleticism and lots of time on his hands goes to a 3rd world country and exploits their sport with some "hack" just for the trophy

It seems to me that he genuinely believes in his hacks and strategies because clearly, they seem to have worked for him.

Yeah, it's such a cuck way of winning. I wish sports with weight classes would weigh people right before the fight/match.

There are a lot of "how to get rich" guys like the Rich Dad, Poor Dad guy who on closer investigation turn out to have never made any money at all other than by selling books about how they got rich.

Work at home and then outsource everything overseas.

Sounds like everything wrong with America.

did they though? all he does is make podcasts and books repackaging productivity ideas. he just happened to be the first in the space. is that really them "working" or is that grifting.

From a quick glance it seems he is one of those guys whos sole thing is to tell more of himself.

Not busting on the hustle, if people think they are getting something out of it, more power to them.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
