Do you know how to escape a sinking car??

Numerous "missing" people are actually sitting in their cars at the bottom of a lake.

It’s amazing how many old cases are being solved by a group of volunteer divers at Adventures with Purpose. Look up their channel on youtube.

This video could save your life (spoiler: have a window cutter for your keychain and never go to the back of the car to buy time).

Apparently the water pressure makes it near impossible to open the door so you need to find a way to smash out the window if you can't roll it down.

I don't think this is true. I think you got about 30 seconds to roll windows down before electronics die.



If you can't, you're gonna have to wait till the car sinks to the bottom and pressure equalizes

Or you can use the metal tips of your headrest to break the window

Even so, the second I realized I was going in my hand is going on the power for all 4 windows. Should have time for backs to get down if I go in front end first at the very least

I always assumed people died in those situations because they went from going 60mph to 0mph into a body of water and hit their head on the steering wheel or were otherwise dazed, and drowned before they could do anything.

But if I were in a sinking car with all my wits about me, I'm pretty sure the metal parts of my car seat headrest and be used to bust out the window if need be.

You might have to help passengers out. I know a kid who was left in the car while his friends all escaped. They were driving on an icy lake and the ice broke. He’s the only one who died.

A lot of them are drunk driving. One guy they found had almost made it out but his leg got caught in the head rest and he ran out of air. They found him out of his car with his arms up like he was swimming out but his foot was stuck.
