Do you think this old professional football rule should still be in effect

So players use to get paid by their performance and how much playing time they got.. meaning if you didn't try and actually put in the effort you got benched and you didn't get paid very much.

Unlike today where multi millions are guaranteed and then it doesn't really matter. Well it does but they still get paid regardless of how they perform.
