Going either ps/nintendo now or pc/nintendo.

I’m sure they will “commit” to a future xbox console, but it will be there last one and sell awful as this move will make its appeal basically zero

This is actually unbelievable. They forked out what, 100 bil on studio purchases? And all it resulted in is zero games, thousands of layoffs and Kotick getting yet another fat stack.

Xbox is done, i have told people nobody plays Xbox anymore. Ps5 and Switch literally have 20x more players.

It's a shame because Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon are some of the best games i have played in years

Sony was fighting for bluray to win the media war. MS was keeping them busy, propping up HDDVD, while building out gamepass and xbox live. It seems like a very calculated move from microsoft. Their goal has always been software subscription sales. Their entire company is currently built on this (o365, Azure, GamePass, AI / Copilot, etc) and is the currently the highest valued company in the world.

For that to even be indiscussiontells you all that you need to know.

That would be like if Sony was considering porting God of War to Xbox.

They're talking about this before even announcing a Gears of War Trilogy Collection, which is absolutely pissening in its own right, and a testament to how much in shambles Microsoft's Xbox division is when they continue to neglect easy wins.

How many other IPs has Microsoft been sitting on while doing nothing with them? It's not like they're in the position Sony's in where they can pick and choose what to make because they've been on top for two generations. Microsoft has just been scratching their asses while purchasing additional studios as their own wheels were spinning.

I have to wonder how much of this was already on table as a Plan B if they couldn't make enough headway with Game Pass and the Bethesda exclusives alone.

There's just no way that they start weighing these kinds of options that position them as pulling a Sega completely out of the blue.

The Activision-Blizzard acquisition would at the very least set them up for a profitable role as a third party publisher if they had to put aside the hardware side of business, which might have been some of the justification for such a large purchase.
