The West should have specially invited Russia to join NATO, post collapse of USSR

Why didn't we do that, who the F knows. Maybe to keep potential war enemies for the MIC.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, give Russia maybe 5-7 years to stabilize, and by 1997, they should have been invited to join NATO through special invite.

Russia would be a NATO ally, part of the European Union, and all this hostility from the 20th century would have been put to bed

According to Putin (per his recent interview w/ Tucker) he did ask Clinton, Clinton was agreeable to it and then the CIA shut it down.

The US doesnt decide who joins nato, it has to be approved by all nato members. It cant “special invite” a new member.

Nato policy dictates that certain requirements be met for membership and there has to be an application process, something that russia considers “embarrassing” as they do not (did not) want to wait in line for membership like other pleb eastern euro nations.

Also, there was always conflicting geopolitical views between nato and russia after the collapse of the Ussr making a pact not feasible.

the sole reason NATO was created was to counter the Soviet Union, to the west Putin/Russia are still the Soviet union communists, lol.

so if Russia were to join then that boogeyman would be gone as would alot of the MIC

Russia is a special circumstance. The USSR had collapsed, and they wanted to join the West. We should have had the tact and wisdom to avoid humiliating them.

They should have had special invite if they met the requirements, and not have to wait in any line. Russia was a world power equal to us back then... and even today is still a world power.

Ideally yea bro it would be beneficial for russia to be allied with the west. I think it was nixons top aide that said back in the day that the goal should be to always distance russia and china from each other. Obviously having russia in nato against china is a positive…

But again there is no legal route for “special inviting” russia to nato, that isnt how it works. In order to do that you would need to alter nato which would again require a vote between all member states.
