The information does not concern an imminent threat, and it was obtained using authorities granted to the intelligence community under Section 702 of a key electronic surveillance law that is being hotly debated in Congress, according to officials with knowledge of the matter and who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence.

Turner, a strong proponent of the surveillance authority, appears to want to use the information about the adversary capability to persuade skeptical colleagues that 702 is an indispensable intelligence tool, one official said.

Himes cautioned that the information Turner highlighted doesn’t concern a “panic now” issue. “It is a serious national security issue in the medium-to-long term that the Congress and the administration need to focus on,” said Himes. “But no need to buy gold.”

Republican warning of 'national security threat' is about Russia wanting nuke in space

The White House's national security adviser said Wednesday that he had already scheduled a classified meeting with congressional leadership before a top House Republican requested that President Joe Biden "declassify all information" that relates to "serious national security threat."

Two sources familiar with deliberations on Capitol Hill said the intelligence has to do with the Russians wanting to put a nuclear weapon into space.

This is not to drop a nuclear weapon onto Earth but rather to possibly use against satellites.

"It is very concerning and very sensitive," said one source, who called it "a big deal."

I think I scrapped the PC I built in 2001 last year.

Was using it as a miner OS, but it got so hard to use I gave up and junked it I think.


I know they've been adding backdoors for a long time now, I'm just unaware of how bad it is, what to do to get around this crap. I remember reading threads from chip engineers talking about how "suits" would sometimes kick them out of the development areas for a while, fuxxing around with backdoors on brand new architecture. I really wish I could remember the article or post, as its long gone now, but had eye opening discussions on how ALL new hardware HAS to have backdoors for the feds.

A former employer used to push out Windows updates in the middle of the night occasionally. Next morning laptop battery is completely dead and the inside of the backpack is blazing hot.

I doubt it's anti-satellite nukes. It's almost impossible to nuke the other guy's satellites without taking out your own. Russia has already tested an anti-satellite ground based missile (and left a big mess as a result).
