It will be appealed. Nobody should be forced to pay $400 million for a “crime” of allegedly inflating assets to secure loans… when the banks testified on his behalf that they did their own due diligence and were paid on time and in full.

I’m too lazy to search google, but during the trial, I’m pretty sure someone posted a stat that x% of the judges decisions were appeal and most won the appeal or at least had their penalty significantly reduced.

If this is the new standard, every business owner in NY should run for their lives. Even if you pay back all loans on time and there are zero complaints… you can be hunted for any disagreement over assets.

Unless, of course, they shouldn’t fear anything because going after trump was political and not an actual application of the law.

Seems like the political posts by the law clerk, the gross underestimation of assets like mar a lago by the judge, the fact that the alleged victims testified on trumps behalf saying they did their own due diligence and were paid back, the judges conduct during the trial, etc. are all very low hanging fruit for an easy appeal.

Yes as the bank itself admitted in court, this is just the way these deals are done. The only reason theres no mass exodus from NYC is because they know this is a lunatic judge with a vendetta against trump
