Condo towed friends car away in visitor lot over night. Who is in wrong?
- friend came over stayed 1 night the other night at my condo
- parked in visitor space ...there's a log you are supposed to enter when you have over night guests in the lobby ie the type of car plate etc
- forgot to do that thinking it was no big deal seeing the visor lot is mainly empty and isn't a valuable parking spot to anybody who isn't visiting
- my friend went out next morning discovered car towed. Don't you think that's a little aggressive ? They could have sent an email out first or wrote a warning on the car
And ofcourse when I email the property management company about it they don't reply ...go figures.
And now we are have to go on this big search trying to find out what impound lot got the car

You are for assuming the rules won’t apply to you and thinking it was ok to be slightly lazy with a basic task which then requires more work to be done by someone else.
Like instead of learning a lesson now you are trying to see if you can fault the security guard who was responsible for checking log and cars, and seeing if you could justify making him figure out and fulfill the task you just skipped out on.

Contact condo see if they will help with fees.
End of the day its your fault for ignoring rules and not documenting the car.
Sucks, but you learned your lesson.

Just thought it was a bit aggressive to tow seeing the lot isn't in downtown or something. Anybody parks there...it's pretty obvious they are visiting and not out at some other location
Suks hard tho

It's your fault. You must pay any fines/towing expenses for your friend.

Instead of giving a date that you needed a sticker by or sending any emails that the time was up they towed like 20-30 cars in the middle of the night, including mine. Went to go to work the next morning and my car was gone. I called the cops thinking it was stolen and they said it was towed. I guess the tow companies have to tell the police or something? Then I called the condo association and the guy was getting a ton of calls and said it was someone else with the association who decided to do it out of nowhere. Guarantee they got a huge kickback from the tow company.LOL they get kickbacks
It was a huge PITA. Had to take my sons car to work, get off work early, go get cash since the tow company only takes cash and drive about 45 min to go get my car.
OP if the visitor lot wasn't even full that is pretty aggressive of them. Sucks but lesson learned. At least your guest parking thing sounds easier than having to give someone the placard to put on their dash and then getting it back when they leave. The guest spaces were not even close to my building.

It's your fault and you need to pay him for the tow fee.

Even if they gave us a few stickers or something to put in our guest windshield would be a better system than having to write In a log each time
And fml they want us to contact management if they stay longer than 2 nights
My girlfriend came over Friday night ...i was straight up done with that visitor lot.
Moved my car around back on the street and let her take my spot
Joys of condo living lol
But yeah it was aggressive even though I am technically in the wrong.
They could have had a warning or notice first
