why did that game come out so terrible? I thought the studio behind the game normally makes good games

A lot of the developers who worked for a lot of these studios have moved on, so a lot of games made by once revered studios are being made by entirely different people.

Alongside that, as much as publishers are the first in line to receive blame, it's often the internal leadership making terrible decisions. It was that way with Bioware, it was that way with Bethesda, it was that way with Arkane and Redfall, and I wouldn't be shocked if it was the same deal with Rocksteady and Sodoku Squad.
