Not old at all, 61. I just read two years ago he was diagnosed w/ dementia. Awful to hear. I wonder if he had any support around him, not to get too dark about an already sad story, but with proper care someone w/ dementia should not die within two years.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Sad to hear, he was an entertaining character in the wrestling world. RIP.
Thus, a good man, though a slave, is free; but a wicked man, though a king, is a slave. For he serves, not one man alone, but what is worse, as many masters as he has vices. - Saint Augustine

I'm probably one of the few who actually remembers his brief run as Curly Bill with the West Texas Rednecks during the dying days of WCW. Virgil always played a good lackey. As a character, he seemed like he'd do whatever needed to be done in order to stay in good graces. Those kinds of supporting characters are far under-appreciated, IMO. Everyone wants to be a star, now. The focal point.

RIP

RIP. Everyone made fun of him later on but we remember how over he was when he turned face and then won the Million Dollar belt. And how much Piper helped get him over.
