I was talking to a Major in Army Engineers corps and he told me that there is still racism in their ranks, like being passed up for promotion. I tried to reason with him that maybe it was only nepotism and not actually racist.

Never saw any real racism in the military when I was in. Most people have respect to other races because you're all brothers-in-arms sorta things. Race is an afterthought.
Corporate world never noticed any, and I think that's because no one gives a fuk about anyone else anyway.
However, I will say my company hired a bunch of contractors for some IT projects that were Brazilian and Indian. Most of them were incompetent and fukking annoying to try to communicate with. No racism, because there were a few good guys, but most fukkin sucked.
