Who is keeping Panera Bread in business?

Prices are high
Food is average
Portions are small

you'd think all the people who only eat boring food would just make their own lunches instead of going there atp, how are they not struggling?

it's got a niche

semi-preppy folks who don't want mcds/tacobell/etc

when they first came out, it was mostly breakfast food like pastries and bagels

big part of their revenue is also from catering

Their food is decent and when your choice is Panera or Subway, I'll take Panera.

How can you ask how are they still in business? have you not seen how crowded they are? the real question is how is 5 guys and fries burger place still in business all 4 of the ones ive been to in california are empty or little traffic.

Paneras is always filled with people the place is booming so they are doing good in business so how can you say how are they still in business? you act like they dont have customers.

They have some club thing where you can get FREE drinks like three times a day or something, its always jam packed I used to go there first thing in the morning before work and grab a Coffee with flavored cream in it, then at lunch id go to the Panera to get my free soda, the place is always filled up with people using hte WIFI

its a mix of Hipster types, girls and elderly.

The sandwiches got way better, before they only offered some super tough hard dough, but now its pretty good but like you said expensive, I wouldnt say they are average they are pretty tasty its just small portion and expensive

It seems they keep shrinking in size and getting pricey.

That makes sense, I forgot a lot of non coastal America have few options for decent food.

Didn't the owner of Panera donate a bunch of money to Gavin Newsome and now any fast food place in California that makes their own bread doesn't have to pay their workers 20 dollars an hour like all other fast food places? Just lmao at that sht, they can't even come up with a reason why they just do it and everyone says okay.

I think theyre a step above cafeteria food, it’s not bad but it’s nothing to make you want to go back.

They have random stuff on their menu that’s good but still, not worth the price and it’s not filling for an adult man.

I get that it’s a safe and reliable option for people who don’t eat McDonalds but it feels like you’re getting robbed for what you get.

Yeah they did. Libs don't even have to hide how corrupt they are.

Feel like Boomers love Panera. Their food is okay but nothing special. It's weird how some places take off and others with better food never make it.

Well I bet they get even bigger in California now with their unfair edge on cheaper prices due to cheaper labor costs. Never eaten there that I can remember but definitely am steering clear now.

it's probably a bit a Cultural Oasis for those refined folks living in cultural backwaters....a place where one can go, sit, read a book and feel gentrified

I can understand the other two, but how are you surprised that Starbucks is successful? The amount of people addicted to coffee is mind blowing.

Starbucks coffee is ass if you aren’t putting milk/sugar/cream in it

Jimmie John’s is at least cheap but I haven’t eaten there in years

Because it's low quality. Even their frappes are meh.

Yeah these two are a f cking mystery. How do all major sandwich/sub chains taste so mediocre? Like who the hell still eats at Subway?? There is such a window open for a better tasting bread/sandwich or sub chain.

I used to work at Subway way back in 2006, and even then the quality was going down. I have no idea how its survived inflation....back when I worked there they still had the $5 foot long...I bet a foot long now is like $18 not including drinks, and chips just lol.

Firehouse Subs is legit although pricey. The Hook and Ladder is the best sandwich on the menu.

They used to be better. Subway used to be legit. Idk how they are in business in 2024 though.
