how are you with alcohol?
29 and slowly realising I have a toxic relationship with alcohol
I can't have a beer and call it.
2 beers deep and my mind just changes and 8 hours later its 3 am and I've finished a litre of whatever of whiskey
starting to understand it has to be a cold turkey quit for me. I cant balance that sort of stuff.
how old were you when you realised

I appreciate well thought out subtle trolling.

I have a drink for special occasions, but honestly don't care for it.

Good and Bad. I used to drink Jameson every weekend, and almost finish the bottle the hangovers were just not worth it. Would also look at my phone the next day, and see a bunch of texts I sent to people on my contacts that I don't even remember...lots of them really cringe.
Now I just drink beer...Probably like 7 beers deep right now, and feel good. I like to get drunk, but not really wasted anymore.
The key for me is listening to tunes while drinking then around 2 am I'll have eat something, and chug a bunch of water, and call it a night.
I can't stay up all night anymore, because I'll just end up sleeping the whole day wasting it.

Never understood the idea that alcohol can "change" a person, i have a friend who's like this and i highly suspect they just use the guise of alcohol to act like an ahzhole/degen.

I was 26 when I quit drinking and am 33 now. Once I started drinking I had no off button. It took a lot of work for me to get sober but was 100% worth it and I don't miss it at all. Feel better, look better, happier, stress is lower, have better relationships. Hasn't been any downside to giving it up.

thankful that I do not suffer an addiction to alcohol or drugs. I enjoy the drink, not every day.....usually one or two drinks and very rarely go for 3 or 4. I probably average 3 to 4 days per week, some weeks less. I like the experience in the same way I enjoy coffee...with some snacks, nice reading music, and a good book.
Tonight was wine with dinner....two glasses, and if I have anything else it's going to be some herbal tea to help with the sleep/digestion

I drank and partied when young, which turned in to drinks with a meal after I stopped going to clubs. My wife and I both stopped drinking when we decided to have a kid and never started again after she was born.
I haven't had alcohol in 5-6 years.
I never kept alcohol in the house or drank at home; it was very much a going out/social thing. From what I have seen, that seems to be the biggest divding line: people who drink at home, for the sake of drinking, are in a different class.

Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!
The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

Your similar to most , as I used to go to the bar after work while working out of town with the intentions of 2 or3 .
Next thing you know I’m looking at my watch and it’s barely 7 o’clock , so we’d have a few more thinking what’s the big deal.
And then they’re asking for last call and when you leave you go an employees house for a party till 4 am thinking , hey I’ve still got a few hours sleep lol.
I learned to not so much as touch a beer if I had to work the next day.
In my case I drink to drink . I usually go 6 weeks without a drink then get the urge .
When I do drink I go through a minimum of 10 , and on occasion into the 20’s .
I call it no food Friday , as I can’t eat anything after 11 am , or I won’t be able to get that buzz I like , and get bloated too easily

If I cant drink for the rest of the day i wont even start.
A couple beers is more annoying than no beer.

I was pretty bad before I stopped 6 months ago. Had some nights where I'd only have 5 or 6 white claws/coronas or something but I typically binge drink. Usually in a bar or club setting where the more drinks you have the more fun it gets. Never had a time where I didn't drink too much since I started in college. It got more frequent the more alcoholcels I hung out with so I dropped everybody. Pretty much back to being FA but it's chill.
I don't know if I'll quit forever cause sporting events+beers is the definition of a good time. Gonna try to stick it out for a year and reevaluate.

Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

I don't like the taste of alcohol so unless it's masked with sweetness I can't drink it. I rarely drink. Maybe 1 or 2 glasses of wine a month depending. I've gone months with no alcohol and that's fine with me. I also don't like drinking my cals.

I do not have a relationship with it at all. Thankfully.
I used to be in a pretty tough one, but I identified it and moved on.
It was unimaginably harder than it sounds. I am grateful for the experience.
Haven’t had a drink in five or six years, haven’t been afraid of it, fantasized about it, or counted days since my last drink in about three or four less than that.
Would absolutely recommend.

I can go months without it but if I have a beer I will probably drink 48 straight and go on a 2 day binge. Could actually picture myself drinking nonstop for a month straight and then blowing my brains out srs

I was never a "drunk" but I used to have a beer or two most nights it was so habitual for me, so I did dry January went cold turkey for the month, the first 3 days were the hardest the rest of the month was a breeze.
Now I just have a few on weekends try and keep it to just weekends.
