Is it possible to make money investing stocks?

I no long term investing is profitable...will double money every 10 years or so.

But...is it possible to make money investing more short term? Im not talking about day trading where u buy and sell 100s of stocks per day and look for trends and edges in the market.

Im talking actual investing. Say apple just came out with a new iphone and i believe theyre gonna succeed with it. Or tesla with a new car. Whatever...say i buy 5k worth of stocks at a hypothetical $100 a share and a few weeks/months later, sell it for $150 a share. Make 2.5k back and look for the next company to invest in.

This seems different from day trading/swing trading because ur not "playing the market" u r literally INVESTING IN A COMPANY.

Does this work?

What you are referring to is called Swing Trading and yes, if done correctly can be profitable.

It's not "different" than Swing Trading.....the hypothetical scenario you gave is literally the definition of Swing Trading.

Yeh you just need to buy things when they're undervalued, sit on them until they become fairly valued, and sell them if they become overvalued

it's easy

The thing is.. there are people with much more money and power than you that can anticipate the same thing

Thats why its better do just long term - to ease through that chit

But some of them specifically have that money and want to fuk with you. For instance, selling a large lump sum right before the iphone released, then coming back and buying it up cheap or vice versa

Buying a large chunk making it seem like more volume than normal then selling it all off

Interesting...but it is possible and "investing" is a very different mentality from "trading?"

Making tons of money on the stock market is easy, you just need to do one simple thing.

Get elected to congress. Seems they cant fail when it comes to investing.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Obviously. It can be done with either crypto or volatile stocks. All you really have to do is pick something that's consistently volatile. Buy low and sell high.

Maybe you have to sit on it for a week. Maybe you sit on it for a year. Regardless. You buy when its low and sell when it pumps up.

Crypto is quite perfect for this because its cycles are so extreme. You should have been loading up on Crypto over the last 6-12 months. Because right now its pumping and its a great time to sell to cucks.

Be careful buying when, as you said, tesla announces a new car etc. thatโ€™s a classic pattern called โ€œbuy the rumor, sell the newsโ€, the time to buy tesla is BEFORE they announce a new car, maybe if a new car is rumored, because after the news of a new car actually comes out, people are not stupid, they know what you know, and they will sell, since they know you will sell too.

Watch for taxes. When you sell for profit thatโ€™s called โ€œrealized gainsโ€ and if you held it only a few weeks, itโ€™s taxed at higher rate than long term realized gains. If you sold something for profit, consider selling some of your least desired red (aka losing) positions on December 30th, aka tax loss harvesting. You can buy those stocks back again after 60 days to avoid the โ€œwash saleโ€ rule.

As a rule, you should give your โ€œswingโ€ investment up to 5 years, at least 2 years, to work. Itโ€™s very rare to succeed if you only give your investment a few weeks/months to work.

And yet another pattern to remember: when you made money, the stock is likely to keep going up. Most people sell too early.

There is more, but those are some standard things to keep an eye on.

If you have to ask this question, you're most likely not going to do well with this. As already recommended, put your money into a low expense market fund and enjoy your peace of mind.

If you're under 50, keep it simple with 100% VTI.
