-free and transparent elections

As for OP though, I think we're safer than most of the world, but not the happiest. People become more precious and snowflakey about things the better things get. The fact that these lists are always dominated by Nordic countries discredits them for me. Weather is one of the main sources of happiness I could never be happy living with that chitty weather.
