I'd say that a similar book to would be Machiavelli's The Prince since it's from a closer time frame.

I'd read the 33 strategies of war for modern version of The art of war, just like the 48 LOP in the modern , the prince.

Also the way that it's been described before and made sense to me, was that the art of war was a revolutionary book when it was written - as in the only reason war is the way it is these days, is due to this book orr treatise, whatever it is.
