Imagine being a middle class family earning $80k per year. You spend 18 years saving for your kids college fund so they can get a degree and earn a better living than you. You skip vacations, don't fund your retirement, and don't have any investments. But you put away enough to do the right thing and take care of your kids first, and you have just enough to pay for their 4 years of tuition.
