Brother rejected my gift for my newphew

My brother has a two year old son who just recently had a birthday. He also has a large Alaskan malamute as a family pet. Good kid and and good dog overall.

For my nephews two year old birthday, I went to a leather worker and had him craft a saddle for the malamujer so he could ride him like a horse.

When I gave it to him at his party he was stoked, but then my bro pulled me aside and quietly chewed me out about it. He called it a stupid, useless, dangerous gift that will not be used. I was pretty hurt he said that, because I got high quality leather and his initials stitched into it.

Would you shoot down this gift so rudely?

That’s my other brother. He was a dick about that gift as well.
