My Strange Inheritence

years ago when i was still married my wifes father passed away. he was a good guy and had a nice house and all.

My wife went up there to take care of the place and his remains and all that, get his affairs in order.

I didnt expect anything from him and never really gave it much thought. I would rather have spent more time with him than have his stuff.

So my wife is gone for a week or two getting everything in order and comes back and says she went through her dads stuff and she gave me a set of used toenail clippers. She thought I might want them.

Used toenail clippers.

Years later my brother passed away unexpectedly and my Mom went to do the same thing, clean out his place and stuff arrange his affairs.

She said she brought me back some stuff and it was a cheese grater. Not even the four sided pyramid ones but just a kind you hold in your hand and shred the parmesan cheese on some pasta.

I never said anything and was gracious but what the hell? What were they thinking? Of course it was a serious situation but toenail clippers and a cheese grater? Why even bother with anything. I never said i wanted anything from them but more time.
