So is the Supreme Court allowing Illinois to ban guns?

So is the Supreme Court allowing Illinois to ban guns?
Any legal scholars want to explain to me what it means that the supreme court isn't going to take up the Illinois "assault" weapons ban?
Am I understanding correctly that this means they're allowing Illinois to keep that ban in place for good?
Or is this a part of the legal process that has to play out because there is a different case along the way that will address this?
Genuinely asking for clarification from anyone who is knowledgeable on how it works.

They sent the cases back to the lower courts and are more likely to take them up when the lower courts have reached a final decision. It's basically a procedural thing, not necessarily an indication that they are willing to let the challenged laws stand.
