Anyone here collect or sell vinyl-records?
I have about I dunno 800 records or so. All in very-good to mint shape as I always kept them in the plastic as well. Took random 50 of them of all genres to a record-shop and I knew when the regular guy who prices records called his boss to come to the store I might have something more valuable.
I just wanted a reasonable offer maybe worth half the selling price. I'm hesitant to ship them and deal with vinyl-snobs who might say a corner of a sleeve is creased and ask for a refund.
He tried to downgrade the value while going through the box of records but I was like "these are all near mint?" Shop offered me $250, but more importantly asked me if I had more in a very peculiar way (like please say "more"). I told him I needed to think about it because I wanted to keep some (not really) but he followed me out of the store telling me his store hours etc.
So I go home and went to ebay and just 5 outta 50 of the records are worth more than $100 and many more are worth in the $30 to $50 range. I have an Appetite for Destruction version that someone is asking $500 for on Discogs, but maybe these asking prices are unattainable.
Thoughts appreciated on selling, shipping material sources, etc. Watched some youtube videos on this but there seem to be many variations of what to do.
