Some important things:

1) He registered as a republican in 2022 when there was no presidential primary. A Democrat sitting on registering as a Republican for two years just to vote in the GOP primary literally makes no sense and reeks of MAGA cope.

2) A Thomas Crooks donated to Act Blue.There is no proof it was this Thomas Matthew Crooks who donated.

3) Based on information from the shooter's Instagram bio, Trump's ties to Epstein may have been his catalyst to act. Lot of news going around that he was most likely a p3d0 hunter.

4) Alternative reason - Trump disavowed Project 2025 and the shooter was pissed a la Nick Fuentes.

Yeah it was this Thomas Crooks that donated to ACT Blue. Reuters even reported on it. Your shooter is a progressive lefty.
When Crooks was 17, he made a $15 donation to ActBlue, a political action committee that raises money for left-leaning and Democratic politicians, according to a 2021 Federal Election Commission filing. The donation was earmarked for the Progressive Turnout Project, a national group that rallies Democrats to vote. The groups did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
