Mistakes you've made at work (corporate jobs)
Biggest mistake that I made was talking to people. Most of the time they just want to find out information about you to gossip. This includes feeling the need to respond to someone who is talking to me. One of the biggest lessons that I've learned as I've gotten older is to not respond to most people and talk to them at all. They mostly want to find out information about you to use it against you.

Getting a corporate job was the biggest mistake I ever made in my entire life srs.
I locked myself into a fuking pit of misery that won’t end until I either drop dead or turn 65.
If I could do it all over again I would’ve picked any other career path but it’s too late for me now.

when trying to fit for a role that is similar but not the same but you really want it, research it, paint your current role as if it is just like this one
on the CV everything is fair game, apart from checkable qualifications - certificates with exams governed by a body, university degrees etc

Didn't try to be friendly with coworkers
Didn't take the politics aspect of it seriously until recently. Thought I was above "playing the game". Now I know everybody plays the game.
Didn't make sure the new position I was hopping to would be better than the old one.
Didn't prep for an interview once and came off like a clown
I made a lot of smart moves too though, though some of them were just luck.

Been in corporate since 2005, few things iv learned from a young age:
- Voicing your opinion too much never goes well (you need to fine-tune when to talk up)
- Talking about other people. It'll show you're a negative nancy. Plus somehow it can get back to them
- Not dressing well will harm you
- Having secks with co-workers never goes well in the end
- Working at 100% effort every day- don't bother or they'll expect it constantly (find that mid-ground so when you DO excel you get amazing call outs).
