Lol at people who say you can get a good workout in less than an hour..

If you lift with any kind of intensity it will take almost 10 minutes just to get warmed up. Then the real fun begins for the next hour and a half. Lol at thinking you’re doing much more than getting a pump in 30 minutes. Must have muscle fibers of piss and poverty if you can adequately work them in 30-40 minutes.

I always lol at people who come in after I’ve started working out and leave before I’m finished. Then they come back the next week and are still d!cking around with the same baby weights (srs).

I'm really fat in my cardio and conditioning really sucks, right now I'm just doing 40 minute workouts but I want to work up to 2 hour workouts, I get told that 2-hour workouts aren't realistic but I don't understand what gives, if I was much better conditions I could handle 2-hour workouts and make gains from it

you're working toward a positive outcome, good thing also about cardio as another advantage is it will help in your weight training with stamina, srs

It takes me a good 15-20 minutes just to warm up. For what it's worth I do a fair amount of stretching and mobility work during this time. Never any injuries so I would say it's doing me well

I don't really do warm-ups and I never get injured from lifting, but most of my workout will be over an hour because I take the necessary 3-5 minutes of rest between hard sets. So many people just rush through all their sets with 3060 seconds of rest and don't actually lift with intensity.

Could be up to 3 hours. You can easily get four 30-45 min workouts in

Day 1 - chest
Day 2 - back
Day 3 - legs
Day 4 - arms and shoulders
Abs a few times a week

Edit: or in your case, 3 1 hour workouts

lower volume (higher weight) and shorter breaks between sets can easily exhaust you in under an hour.

it really depends on what you are doing that day..

it is a multi muscle work out? yea more than an hour is needed if you want to focus on those muscles

then you have some folks who focus on a singular muscle where you can get that done in an hour or less.

in reality when some gyms being packed at certain hours I spend a lot of time waiting for the machine/bench/etc where I can be done a lot sooner.. a lot of the benches have been turned into a perma hip thrusting and its annoying.

lol wut?

If you're doing squats, bench and deadlifts.. Yeah I agree. But for bodybuilding, you could easily get like 85%+ of your gains by just doing a split and being efficient with your time. Lets say chest/tri, you'd do 2 sets of incline db press, 2 sets of machine pec flyes, 2 sets of tricep overhead and 2 sets of tricep pushdowns. Do each set to failure and rest 2-3 min between. Can easily get it done well within the hour, hell there's even time to add more exercises or more sets. The key is to actually bring the intensity to each set, really going to failure.
390 back squat
285 bench press
500 deadlift (I don't DL anymore)

LOL if you aren't spending 2.5 hours minimum at the gym.

15 minute cardio
5 min weight lifting warm up
1.5-2 hr weight lifting
15 minutes of abs
15 minutes cardio

Just LMAO if this isn't your routine

JFL at needing much more than an hour to get a solid workout in. It's about intelligent exercise selection and performing them with intensity. If you go hard on big compound movements you can't (and don't need to) do that much volume for results.

Example push day. Start with flat barbell bench because if done right it'll annihilate your pecs, and also work the triceps and front delts hard. From there, incline press for more chest but shifts some of the emphasis to triceps and front delts. Finish with isolations or combine them into one exercise like dips. In terms of sets, only need 3 working sets of flat bench (30-35 mins including warm ups and build up sets), 2 for incline (15 mins) and whatever 2 for each isolation (5-10 mins); first exercise warm up covers the remaining exercises since same muscle groups are being worked.

Hypertrophy workouts you can get in like an hour maybe an hour 15 if pushing the pace. Especially if you are using a lot of machines where you don’t need to warm up as much and keep rest periods short

If you’re doing any sort of strength work there’s no shot you’re getting it done under an hour if you’re even remotely strong. I do 20 sets in a workout ish and do like 6-7 sets before I even get to my working weight I ain’t doing that in under an hour lol

So really it just depends on your goals

I mostly do HIIT with kettlebells. Very little rest, so an hour is impossible. During conventional workouts about 2 minutes between sets. If you're doing more than 20 sets for a workout you're not getting added benefit. Hitting a bodypart twice a week would be better than 1 long workout per week of that bodypart.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

Yeah, that’s true…and honestly this thread was just an aware thread because of someone making one saying you only needed like 40 minutes. But honestly even when I’ve run bro splits I still spend more than 45 minutes most days. Right now just doing a PPL and only hitting each workout once/week.

Current back and bis day:

T bar rows - 4 sets (1 warmup and 3 true)

Dumbbell preacher curls - 4 sets (1 warmup and 3 true)

Wide grip pull-ups - 3 sets of 10

Hammer curls (rope) - 4 sets

Face pulls - 3 sets

Back extensions (machine) - 3 sets

Lat pulldowns (1 arm) - 3 sets

Incline dumbbell curls - 3 sets

Shrugs - 3 sets

Reverse flyes - 3 sets

If anyone here is hitting that in less than an hour and 20 minutes(likely much longer) then they aren’t coming close to resting enough to make each rep count. Not even that stupid **** Gaysoos Christy.

Are you natty boyo? I am. Just wondering if doing something like this for a natty makes sense, this is roughly the volume I want to work up to as a natty except 4 or 5 sessions a week.
