A lot of cultural and societal factors are present in people not wanting kids. At the end of the day you see a fukton of people utilizing coping mechanisms to placate their paternal instincts itching and baby rabies. There isn't much virtue in choosing to be a Dog Mom/Dog Dad over having human babies. When you see women pushing tiny dogs around in strollers you start wondering what the fuk is really going through their heads.

On the other hand if you don't want children because you have some goal in life you're passionate about and having kids will drag you down from it, then I can get behind that.

for most of my life i never remember doggos and kitties taking the place of children like they do now. i know a 45 yr old woman, overweight, atheist, unmarried with a long term bf....says children are crotch spawn and she has 7 cats.

Maybe by this year or next it will be more rare to be under 50 WITH a child than without.

Should also take into account that lopsided family courts have added a MASSIVE level of risk, usually solely on the male, when it comes to having children & getting married. Another one would be how promiscuity has been normailzed among young people. This is especially damaging to young women, who will struggle to pair-bond as their number of sexual partners increase. The middle class is shrinking. Cost of living going up. Student loan debt is astronomical. All of that has been happening for quite some time. Its a cultural issue, not an individual issue. I personally believe that its deliberate. All part of the plan. But its really not as simple as"go get married, buy a house and have a few kids."Those days have long passed. Follow that game plan in today's society and there's a good chance you'll quickly find yourself in a really bad spot.
