Does alcohol mess with gains if you are still going and setting PRs?

ded srs

I am on a binge lately, being hungover af, getting just passable mentally and physically, hitting the gym to get 1-2 more reps on my main compound, before doing it all over again

Cracking open my first of the night, a Citrus Squeeze Truly before heading out to the bars (west coast time these days boyos)

A couple of drinks on the weekend are irrelevant in regards to your overall gains/recovery. Binge drinking everyday, or most days of the week? That’ll impact recovery

only way alcohol fks u up is if ur gyming with a raging hangover and the empty calories add to ur weight

i've cut down alcohol consumption by a chit ton in 2024 compared to last year and haven't lost any gym performance

actually thinking about it now, some of the PRs I hit last year I haven't been able to hit this year

Short answer. Yes, alcohol certainly impedes recovery. Might not be as noticable if you are beginner to intermediate though, you can do pretty much everything wrong and still make gains at that point.

as a binge drinker myself and researcher, I can tell you 100% alcohol is the shttiest toxin you can consume in terms of health/gains. no even minimal amount gives any benefits
