Weird how Ukraine has a bunch of fit young men competing in the olympics

Isn't their country completely under attack, men in their 20s getting shoved into police vans and sent to the army etc.

the fittest and most able bodied males get a pass to compete in lame sports in the olympics....

They're only drafting age 25 and up (down from 27 in April)

The Olympians may be 25 or younger.

BRB im in the prime of my life physically..24.....and partying it up in the olympic village while men 2 years older than me getting slaughtered in some trench in Bakhmut

and then NBC does a puff piece about how stunning and brave you are for competing. I'd be super pissed if I was drafted while these guys got out of service

Certain athletes are allowed to compete in order to bring more attention and soft influence to Ukraine.

For example, Usyk was allowed to keep boxing after reporting for military duty. As a result, he fought Tyson Fury for the unified heavy weight championship, and now he is the best boxer in the world and #1 pound for pound (he also donated millions from his winnings towards Ukraine).

HOOOGE Morale Boost to the troops and country, and a message to the free world that Ukraine is fighting and is worth sending money to, etc. etc.
