Meh - I'd rather treat my family properly and fugg the random strangers who wouldn't look at you twice is you were on the street and begging for food.

If you are polite out of the love you have for people, good for you - but most people act nice to strangers and treat their family like sh*t. Don't tell me this is not common.

Always be polite and gentlemanly until you've got a really good reason not to be. Being polite and respectful radiates positive energy, lifts mood and shows you're socially competent and not some weirdo or serial killer.


Rudeness isn't cool or badass or masculine. It's really a poison for your mind that you self-administer, because why be rude unless it's really a projection of your own hurt and insecurities onto someone else? If someone chits all over you, just learn the lesson and cease contact with them. I did that with a terminal narcissist I knew who was also majorly ass-burgery. Just incessantly condescended and insulted other, pontificated on every subject no matter how poorly read he was in it, thought he was smarter than everyone and was unable to believe anyone could hold a different opinion to him.

When he borrowed $300 off of me and then acted like a victim when I asked for the payback, as if I had done something wrong, was when I knew I was dealing with a toxic POS.

At its more extreme levels, definitely OP.

Politeness and good manners can be taken too far, to the point where expression becomes very inauthentic. As a Brit I see this all the time.
