i mean, with touch screens there isn't really much more physical designing to do unless you want stuff protruding from the phone. Flip phones were made to protect screens and make them more compact. keyboard phones were to bridge the gap between phone and computer, see Blackberry and that keyboard flip phone every high school sloot had. After those came iPhones/Androids/Windows phone, and that's p much it.

The design aspect I don't understand is why they keep making them bigger. go buy a tablet or computer if you need more screen time, my iPhone X barely fits in some of my jeans as it is.

they all function basically the same starting with the 2018 or so models. let me guess...faster processor, better camera, maybe little better battery life, etc.

Can't blame them. There's nothing more you can physically do to phones, sadly.

All upgrades from here out will be software, and maybe sometimes a better camera.

im just thinking how good of a picture do i need to take? i'm not some social media junkie. how fast do i need a phone to be to check emails, misc and track my steps? phones kinda peaked imo and now you basically have to convince yourself how you "need" the new features

I actually like all the improvements. I want the best picture possible (why not?) pictures are cool.

I also like faster processors, viewing it feels way more smooth on newer iPhones, everything loads faster, it saves me time. I use my phone like 100x/day.

The next thing to actually matter with phones will be AI. It's coming to phones and will be the biggest advancement since the invention of phones themselves. It will take probably 2 years to roll out but it will be game changing.

for me a camera can either capture the moment or it can't. crystal clear uber super hd clarity to capture every nose hair doesn't really matter. everything loads fast on my 5 year old phone...and i'd rather use my phone less than looking for reasons to use it more.

In my opinion, phones have not changed that much since the iPhone 4s - an iPhone 4s can do everything an iPhone 16 can do, except take kickass pictures.

Although we can stretch that to 2015 and say the iPhone 6 plus is where nothing much has improved on from since then.

EDIT: bit of trivia, the DP I use was taken with an iPhone 4s.
