Harris to give $25k for down payment [rentcels were right]

Harris will also call for the U.S. to construct 3 million new housing units over the next four years. In order to facilitate that, she will call for new tax incentives for builders who construct “starter homes.”

Any changes to the tax code require congressional approval, and depend heavily on which party controls the House and Senate.

As the supply of entry-level homes expanded, the Harris plan would “provide working families who have paid their rent on time for two years and are buying their first home up to $25,000 in down-payment assistance, with more generous support for first-generation homeowners,” according to the fact sheet.

How does this always happen?

I finish paying off my student debt, then suddenly "student loan forgiveness" is a multi year talking point.

Now I put 20% down on a new construction, then suddenly "$25k down payment assistance" is gonna be a multi year talking point (if she gets elected / Trump wins but likes the idea too?).

I'm self made, no family help, yet everyone who is irresponsible gets the good chit from the government.

And the 'first time home buyer' credits

I personally chose a cheaper college because I was paying my way. This **** is so rage inducing to the people that were productive. I have no problem looking at alternative resolutions rather than just giving out chunks of money. As far as student loans, I'd be perfectly happy with middle ground where the taxpayers cover the cost of student loans interest AS LONG as the college student isn't failing and making on time principal payments. In addition to that, we need to look at dismantling the extreme costs of college institutions and the double dipping of professors to pad their golden parachute pensions. Many professors game the system and pack in the over time in their last couple years. This exponentially buffers their pension since their pension is based off their 2 highest earning years. A professor could retire after 20 years (typical for state work) and have a 200k/year pension for life. In addition to that, costs could drastically be reduced by instead of spending $250-500 million for an athletic field renovation, one could easily be built for a quarter of that cost.

But the problem is, students wouldn't want to make concessions on their facilities. They want top of the line everything which comes at a cost. Professors that double dip to buffer their pensions wouldn't allow this to happen. Students also don't even want to simply pay the principal; they want others to cover the entire cost. So I understand nothing will ever get fixed and we'll just keep trying to buy votes by promising to pay for chit. We're fuk'd as a country. it's too far gone to repair.

What is rage inducing? Are you against Americans receiving help?

If you expect an even playing field, nothing in life is 'fair'. You should be happy for people receiving help

Nothing in life is fair. So you paid off your student loans and saving for 5 years to put down on a house, that's great. But you should still be happy people are getting help.

Do you want Americans to be poor and renting all their lives?

.

I sacrificed a f*cking sh*t ton in my early 20s and 30s for the sake of investing in my future.

Everyone else that didn't do that in the world is my competition. You are my competition. And I am yours. And all the lazy f*cks who didn't invest in their future are being elevated to our level without putting the work on the front end.

It's f*cking bullsh*t.

"They need help"

Of course they need help! They're f*cking losers! Let them lose!

NOTHING IN LIFE IS FAIR. IT WILL NEVER BE FAIR.

That's great you worked hard and did it on your own, that shouldn't take away from others who are tax paying citizens. The fact that you want your own people to suffer is just pathetic.

So could actually go down.

Harris’ plan would help cash-strapped renters by blocking data firms from hiking lease rates, and by preventing Wall Street investors from buying homes in bulk to resell at a premium.

Like ohmygawd, why not just have her say "houses officially cost like 50 bux"

This is the Democrat Party dude. The only ones getting help like that are non-whites because equity. I guarantee a program like that would prioritize people on the basis of race

You're a ****ing disingenuous clown *******. 'Want people to suffer'? No, I only want dip****s like you to suffer. We made our sacrifices working through college to pay for it, paying everything back, working over time for a downpayment on the first home. I'd rather keep my money for my family and give my son an easier time in life than to give it to someone I don't know who has not had to make sacrifices like I did. I'll choose my family everyday over scum like you.

If the rentcels are truly right about everything they still won't be buying houses. Because it makes more sense to be a renter and invest the difference. And the housing market will be crashing anyways. And rentcels will be the wealthy ones in the future.

This only made sense for a short period of time when rates were 1%. Obviously in a normal market there isn’t enough profit renting single family homes for returns to pencil.

As always, this problem was caused by government. The solution is free market capitalism.

You're making zero logical sense right now. Your responses are pure emotion and assumptions about people you do not know. That mentality is a very big part of what's wrong with this country.

Life is not fair, life has never been fair.

Some people are rich without having to lift a finger. Some people stay poor despite working 11 hour warehouse shifts. That's great you worked hard and did it all on your own, but in grand scheme, that doesn't mean look down on others for receiving help. I'm for the betterment of this country. Tax paying individuals and families deserve the right to have the basic necessities. I'd much rather American citizens than to have homeless bums and migrants in my neighborhoods.
