I can’t understand why Volkswagen isn’t a premium brand

BMW /Audi/Merc screams £1500pm on finance debt, Klarna debt, crushed velvet house, turkey veneers and stansted to Ibiza final boss logistics just a bunch of try hard brands.

Meanwhile VW actually looks elegant and classy, not too try hard while being a mogger German whip.

Also VW owns Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, Seat, Porsche, Skoda, Ducati and Cupra.

Since buying my VW polo 1.2 liter outright with cash and annual insurance outright I love my car even tho others call it a chit box.

80k miles 12 years old but still looks fresh and runs sweet because VW is durable and hard as fook srs. Manual ofc because I ain’t no auto soyboy lol also a fully qualified manual driver with pink loicence

Once I run this bad boy into the ground will buy a Golf R or GTI then will be the ultimate mogger by Northern English standards

I mean no disrespect broseph, it is a nice car and congratulations for being smarter than everyone and outright buying things instead of enslaving yourself to financers. You are smart, you are wise and a dependable individual BUT it will never be perceived as a premium car, it will have no noticeable presence on the road, and you might have other cars accordingly parking on top of you.

Toyotas are great too, but most people don’t buy “premium” cars for their practicality, they buy them because they can afford to be impractical (or they fraud that they can afford it).

Because it's not marketed as a luxury premium brand. That doesn't mean it's cheap

It's like saying " I can't believe toyota is not a premium brand " when you can spend over 100k on the best Toyota suv …you get my point

during covid i test drove a 2019 335d, 2016 audi A4 2.0tdi, 2019 gtd, 2016 gti, alone on a few empty duel carriage ways

golf gti was the performance psck 250+ bhp must have been mapped because the clutch felt i was stepping in creamy soup absolutely ridiculously good, could watch the fuel deplete tho lol

audi clutch is off centre feels weird to drive

bmw was fast but the i didn't like the auto

ive drove a same 1.2polo as yours i thought it was good tbh obviously slow but quiet if drive normal

golf gtd manual is the one though srs 180bhp is the sweet spot

Because it just isn't a luxury brand. Nothing wrong with them, they are mostly very nice cars. Same as why a Chevy wasn't luxury when they made Cadillac. Ford wasn't but Lincoln was.

And to those saying that all the luxury brands are so unreliable as a reason to cope for not owning them, I just laugh. One of my cars is an Audi S4 that I heavily modded, race, and have never had any issues maintenance wise. Bought it when it was two years old with a bit of factory warranty left and let the first guy take the big hit in depreciation. I never buy new, just low mileage cars that are a few years old.

Nowadays cars are very similar under the skin and many share the same components made by the same companies with a different badge stuck on the body.

It's like Alienware PC Vs Dell. They both still run on an intel CPU and a Nvidia GPU.

Fun fact: A certain model of landrover and a certain model of BMW both share a common component. The "landrover" one sells for around £100 a pop second hand and is very common to find, whilst the "BMW" one sells for around £400 and is rare to come across. The part is completely identical and fully interchangeable. I pick up the difference in this fairly often any time I see one pop up on ebay.

Yeah the Golf GTD/TDI seem like sick cars but personally it would be pointless for me to get a diesel as I barely do a lot of miles or motorway driving tbh.

Mostly use my car for going to the gym, shopping, barbers and picking u free shags so petrol is perfect for me.

I will say though diesel cars feel much smoother to drive, but I’ve mastered the clutch control for petrol and rarely stall so it’s alright.

VW's are perfectly reasonable cars, but they are not and never will be "premium". They are not marketed as premium and have a median price point.

There is nothing wrong with them being not being premium, they are an everyman brand.

Cope lol at below average lifestyle when I go on multiple vacations a year, got two free shags in one week, go on hinge dates every week, have had 4 different free sloots so far at my apartment and still bang Brazilian escorts for the fun of it, have my own apartment/car and make decent money for where I live with no debt.

My life has literally done a complete 360 in the past 6 months.

Are you really gonna make me post proof of all this again?

Apart from escorts,.you would be surprised how people your age do all that too lol

I'm not trying to bring you down, but its not exactly brag worthy.

Ngl, you constantly bragging about that is kinda cringey.

Hitler didn't intend VW to be a luxury or brand name car; he just wanted something practical, and affordable for the people hence the name; the people's car.

It's like asking why Toyota isn't a premium brand. They have Lexus for that share of the market and Toyota is for the Joe Blow market.

VW makes good cars, but they also aren't making cars for a premium market. It's mid grade comfort features. Their cars are kinda stuff and rigid.

Read your own post. VW makes entry level and mid tier vehicles. Nothing about them is luxury and when it comes to 'quality' of their newer vehicles. They aren't necessarily the greatest.

They are fine for a budget car. About on par if you'd have bought a Chevrolet, Ford, Honda or Toyota as a first car.
