Toxic positivity
People who are always encouraging and optimistic
Usually promote it with superficial advice ("Eat clean", "exercise", "go out and meet people", "get out of your comfort zone", "the world is a beautiful place")
You can tell their overbearing optimism is a defense mechanism for the depression and existential void that lies beneath the surface of the personality they're projecting to the world
Such as when you hear about one of them offing themselves and people say "he was always such a positive person"

Life generally just sucks, is mundane most of the time and is riddled with hardship if you aren't part of the top 10%
That's why there's stuff like religion, spirituality and copemongers like OP mentioned. Fact is, most people are not destined to be winners and are losing 90% of the time (or more) against the top 5-10% of the worlds population who got them by the balls and exploits them in many shapes or fashion.
Now it'd be more miserable if we were hyperfocused and zoomed in on being losers 24/7 so it's also nice to have some encouragement and 'positive' folks around u who try to uplift u. But I'm pretty certain the majority of people that are not winning are just miserable on the down low.
It's just that most people decide not to be daviks and still do as much as they can to increase their odds and positive outcomes. Lest it's better to just end it and never try or just be a full-time crybaby. But who would want to be like that?
