Richard Simmons died of heart disease

This dude was a fitness guru, spent 50+ years of his life exercising and eating right. He was rich as fuk and enjoyed his final decade doing what he wanted under no pressure from the outside world, yet he STILL died just shy of the average age for a man in the U.S. after suffering from falls and heart disease.

This is Richard Simmons in his PRIME

Absolutely ZERO muscle mass. The brah was paid for his personality, not because he was a fitness guru.

he was 5'7" and in his teens he got up to 268lbs - so props to him for losing that weight and he had to have some knowledge on it - but yea personality was the big thing there

I wouldn't be surprised if stress/depression did a lot of damage to his heart. Stress especially is terrible because it causes microscopic damage to arterial walls and over time you have a brittle circulatory system.

I wouldn't even think it was physically possible to be 268 lbs back in the 1960's, much less a young person. They weren't loading their meals with sugar and big pharma additives back then.

Right? And it wasn't like he was a big guy that just overate and had a gut to get to that number either - he obviously had a small frame

If bodybuilders and fitness influencers are known for one thing, it is their longevity.

Maybe the Santa Ana winds were blowing in southern California at the time. The dry winds are associated with a host of negative health effects, heart disease included.

Not for nothing but he did make it to 76 years old. That’s not a young age at all to be dying from anything. If he was in his 40s sure.

Mack died at his home on March 12, 2018, due to HIV/AIDS.[21] He had known of the diagnosis but had refused treatment.[21] His health began to fail, and in late 2014 he told people that he had congestive heart failure.[21] Around six months before his death when, according to rapper Erick Sermon, he called his friends[20] to bid farewell.[22] After his death, his family respected his wishes that his cause of death be known as heart failure.[23][24][25][21]
