Advanced screenings of The Crow remake tonight. One showing only so I need to get in or wait another week. I'm going to do it.

Another classic movie which didn't need a remake. Some of the action scenes look okay, I like the way Bill Skarsgard tanks all those bullets, but to think it will come CLOSE to the 90s Brandon Lee classic is crazy. Its like some douchebag movie execs thought.... 'its been 30 years since the movie, lets make it for the "modern generation"'

Remaking The Crow sounds like heresy. That movie is totally a classic in it's own right and nobody has any business remaking it. Brandon Lee was legendary in it and it's got a great timeless style of it's own.

I'm back.


My honest review is that it's ok. Just ok. Obviously, it's getting compared to the GOAT OG Crow so it's held to an exceptionally high standard. It definitely tries to become its own thing and not just be a carbon copy of the original. That gets some respec.


Not really spoiling anything, but the movie doesn't start with Eric and Shelly immediately dying. There's this new backstory for them. A new villain and not just a remake of Top Dollar. You see the otherworld where Eric crosses over into with a little bit of lore explanation.


Also some cool John Wick-esque fighting scenes and some brutal kills. A weird thing is that Eric and Shelly aren't referred to by their full name in the movie, and aren't called by name much at all.



Overall, obviously no candle to the OG but not terrible or really bad. Just OK.
