Eye of round steaks - do you like them?

I love eye of round steaks, no prep just KEG salt and pepper. Online, everyone chits on them saying they are terrible.

I put them on par with chicken thighs, of course strip is 3x better, but can cost 6x as much. Ribeye is too fatty, and costs 6x as much too.

I am poverty, not a CEO miscer, but I can afford eye of round steaks everyday. The toughness is good to me, a medium rare chewy steak is still delicious. I don't need ultra tender fall off the bone beef like a toothless femboy would.

Any miscers buying this cut and grilling or pan frying?

Eye of round is usually what is used for beef jerky. It has great beefy flavor.

The toughness makes it a no-go for most people. Lol at eating eye of round unless you tenderize it or slow cook it. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies.

Ribeye and chuckeye crew checking in.

Yeah they're good for the price, it's similar or exactly what they use in the steak at chipotle

it still beats eating chicken breast most of the time. for an decent meal at home during the weekday i definitely eat them if i werent having pot roast or ground beef. the new york steaks and ribeyes are nice, sure, but i get those on the weekends or when eating out

I agree, chicken breast is bottom of the barrel, thighs are king then drums, then wings, then breast.

Even the miscers are hating on poor steak. I find eye is better than flanks or even sirloin tip which is mid grade poverty price wise

Wonder if these guys are over cooking the eye steak. Takes like 3 minutes to fry

Eye of Round is meant to be cooked slow, like roast beef. Or maybe in a stew.

It's not a steak at all.

It is only worth using if you are making roast beef. Then it’s great to slice up for sandwiches.

It's a lean cut of beef ideal for bodybuilding

I eat it every week. Just cook it, cube it up and throw it in rice

T bone is dogchit, its true when they say the strip and the tenderloin cook very differently, so it's impossible to cook each side to perfection, one is always crapper than it needs to be.

It does seem ideal, not even into dieting and these misc ceos don't like it.
Nothing grosser than a huge piece of fat from a ribeye anyway. The lean aspect is one of the best parts, with good flavor.

Chicken breast is too lean and tastes like dry dog food

Also pan frying lean steak in butter quickly is key, with good seasoning

Get a sous vide machine, and then you can have your medium rare eye of round that's as tender as fillet mignon.

For steaks I prefer a well marbled ribeye.

For stewing or cutting into smaller pieces to pan sear, I usually use sirloin, but eye of round works as well, just cut it against the grain.
