Trekked 60 miles in remote Yukon (pics)

Towerbrah (Realaesthetic) was going to join but he had a work assignment last minute

Got stared down by this grizzly right at the start of the trek:

That's awesome. Great pics.

How long did it take you to trek that long and how many nights did you camp out?

What were your supplies for the trek?

Ty bro, I camped for 2 nights. So was 3 full days of trekking. There’s a couple very steep mountain passes so I took my time

Had my tent, sleeping bag and mattress, stove, gas, freeze dried food, bear spray and a bear container, etc. didn’t need to carry too much water as there were creeks all along. There’s a bunch of river crossing so had to carry a PFD with me lol

It’s a route and not a trail, so I was just following the map on my Garmin gps. No trailmarkers or cairns on the way either. Lots of routefinding - for eg had to hike a few miles downstream where a river was more braided to cross it, then hike back upstream

Did you walk or what?

It reminds me of being in the mountains of Colorado.

It's pretty but it also reminds me of being on some deserted planet.

It's pretty but deadly if you make one wrong move, like hurt your ankle of something.

Did you like being there and did you think about the amount of danger you were in?

Was just below freezing near the glacier. The river crossings were brutal though with the glacial water

I love it man. Have been on many treks like this in the past so I’m fairly comfortable and don’t think too much about chit going south. Having a satellite phone helps a lot, would never do these remote treks without it

Mirin so fkn hard. Srs. That looks so peaceful and amazing.

I have a trip to Moab, Utah 3rd week of Sept. that I plan to do 3 hard days of hiking and trying to cover as much ground as possible. Pumped for it.

But I would rather go somewhere like this. Yukon outback all alone...fuarrkk

I don’t, bear sprays are way more effective. It just looked at me for a few mins and resumed foraging in the bushes

Been awhile since I looked for bear spray but feel like there were restrictions in NY so I had to get it out of state

You bring a gun? Bears scare the fuk out of me.

I brought bear spray for a fishing trip near yellowstone a few months back and I was paranoid the entire time knowing that the only thing that will realistically stop a determined bear is a gun.

Edit: already answered. Still think a gun would be better.
