Misc chemists: help. Poured virgin sulfuric acid down drain. Now bubbling up.
Did not clear the clog. Is now pooled in the drain and is starting to bubble.
Had used the whole bottle so probaby a half gallon. Tried to neutralize with baking soda but I don't think I had enough left bc it didn't help.
If it's relevant, the pipes under the sink feel extremely hot to the touch now.

are the pipes under your sink stainless steel?
if they are the acid is corroding the metal and making hydrogen gas. if it's pvc it's ok
the acid and baking soda are reacting which makes carbon dioxide gas which is bubbling off and generates a lot of heat. if it gets extremely hot it can start spitting acid back up the drain
best to fill your sink with ice turn the tap on to flush your pipes and dilute the acid and open your windows to flush out the gas
use sodium hydroxide to clean your pipes out next time m8

Acid is used to dissolve proteinz. If you've deposited too many 'proteinz' into the drain use acid. If it is a fat blockage you need caustic.

Did what you said and it finally settled down. Issue is the drain still doesn't work. lol
Is it safe to try sodium hydroxide now with the standing acid still probably there?

if you're using solid sodium hydroxide pellets make sure you add small portions of it to your water at a time with mixing otherwise your water will boil
if that freaks you out best thing to do is have your container of water sitting in an ice bucket so the water is cold then slowly add small potrions of your sodium hydroxide to the cold water so it doesn't boil
when you pour it in your drain and it has done its thing just leave the tap on for a while to flush your pipes out
