Went to a Michelin star restaurant and entitled sloot waitress got sour over 12% tip

I went to this 1 michelin star Italian restaurant yesterday to take my girl out for dinner.

We walked in and the 6/10 early 30s waitress was quite friendly and the service overall was really good, befitting a place with a Michelin star. She was super knowledgeable and water was always refilled faster than i could drink it. I was making more trips to the bathroom than your average miscer after eating Indian food. I even chucked my cloth napkin on my chair and when i came back it was perfectly folded on the table. This happened like 3x cause i kept having to take a piss.

The bill came out to like 250 bucks cause i ordered a huge ass steak and a bunch of sides so that sloot was probably seeing dollar signs in her eyes. She prolly thought she hit the jackpot tbh

When it came time to pay she did that gay shyt waiters do where they stand right in front of you to shame you into tipping 20%. As soon as i got the machine i noticed that the tips started at 20 fking % so i quietly loled. I took out my platinum amex and that sloot was prolly thinking she was gonna get 100 minimum at that moment. But Being part of the misc no tips crew i swerved her hard by tipping 12% because the service was really top notch. When i looked up she had the most sour expression on her face like i was a ****** asking her for bobs and vegana

Even my girl noticed afterward that the waitress seemed upset

But the real question is why are hoes getting mad over a 12% tip. 12% isn’t even a bad tip and all you had to do was carry a 150 dollar steak to a table and you think you deserve 25 bucks for that tf? I get if some ****** walks in and tips 17 cents after blowing up the bathroom then sure, I’d be mad af but 12%?

I try and tip around 15% and they always seem happy with that, especially if it's a place I'm a regular at. This restaurant that I'm a regular at always takes care of me, hooks me up with free food and drinks on the house.

Tipping should not be a percentage and if it is it should not calculate with the taxes.

I tip less and less each day. The only tip I like giving is to my barber because that's the kind of service you can Guage a tip for.

If I see tip options starting at 20% I will always pick custom. If I see gratuity fee on the bill I tip 0.

Tip based on number of trips to the table, not amount of check crew.

She shouldn't get more for carrying a $150 steak instead of a $12 Applebees steak. It's the same fukking job. They should be grateful to get $2 per trip to the table.

You're in Canada? Don't wait staff get minimum wage there? How does their pay work?

I gotten extremely comfortable with tipping 0% for carryout, even to places that I'm a regular at and the person is watching me push buttons on the screen. However, I wouldn't tip less than probably 17% if I'm actually sitting down. Which is very rare nowadays. Servers get paid like $4 per hour where I live, so they need the money.

If servers are making like $15 per hour and keeping all tips on top, 12% is plenty. She's still making $250-300 per night, which is absolutely fine.

Okay, what? What makes you think she thought you’d tip $100 on $250 if 20% of $250 is $50

How long was your dinner? 90 minutes, which is typical? 90 minutes of a waitress’ time at a Michelin star restaurant is definitely worth 20% especially if she’s attentive and friendly. That’s part of the experience and atmosphere

Or am I being trolled?

Seriously is this trolling, because I fall for goofy **** like all the time?

This is fake. No way a Michelin Star restaurant would be tacky enough to process off the Toast machine right at the table

What's the point in having servers??

I think customers should get up and get their own food and drinks. Saves the restaurant money and there's no tipping. Everybody is happy.

In most countries they bring the Credit Card machine out to the table and you swipe or tap it. It's only the US where the server takes your card someplace else.

it's a percent for a reason. it's 90 minutes but i'm dropping two bills on this dinner... so yeah it's longer but the menu items are more expensive so it balances out. this isn't an applebees or a waffle house that havoc brings his girls to.

If you can't afford a decent tip, you shouldn't be going out to decent restaurants.

Sounds like Micky D's is more your level.

How about if you can't afford to tip don't tip. And decent restuarants should actually be paying decent wages to staff, so they don't need to rely on charity which is what tipping is, charity donations.

Lol, yeah fuk that. Every time you tip a server 20%, think of some dude working out in the cold ass weather for like $60k and doing 10x the amount of work. She probably does a lot of Pepsi on the weekends.
