OK the rain is frickin blinding, some of the wing gusts have been scary. Streets has tons of debris all over but wont see any of it too accurately until day break. Backyard still flooded and it's moved into the porch. No outage yet but I've had some power flickers so far.

So did the media over exaggerate this? Of course, it's always better to be prepared and proactive, but it looked from the beginning that the eye of the hurricane would travel along the coastline. Doesn't that mean most of inland Florida would make it? From the media you would think the entire state of Florida would be wiped off the map or something.

The worst so far, 300K people lost power, likely more by now. As well many who told to leave, stayed, specifically those in boat/beach houses who opted to stay, have been calling 911 non stop but they cannot be helped. Who knows what they're going through over there. But I am hoping thi doesn't come close to living up to the hype. I am Volusia, there's been some damage but hardly an armageddon-tier destruction so far. Worst is coming STILL though. I'm at my desk and watching the Weather updates as I stream MP3's non stop atm. I decided not to get drunk either. scared I'd pass out and miss something big lol.

I'd rather them exaggerate when it comes down to saving lives, rather than ruining cops live's in the normal weekly media cycle

As long as the right half of the hurricane stays offshore then the damage in the US is gonna be minimal.


In a few hours we are gonna find out bad Freeport, Bahamas got damaged which is probably pretty bad.

Looks like south/central Florida dodged a bullet this time, it stayed far enough off the coast that it's only tropical storm winds for most people, plus it stayed out longer so kinda missed south florida. It was super close though, literally a few miles from the secondary eyewall hitting my parents place in west palm.

Stay safe Jax and Georgia/SC brahs, could get ugly up there.
